Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi did not answer on questions of reporters regarding Kosovo’s acceptance to be regionally represented without the term ‘republic’. Asked whether Kosovo will be represented as a republic in regional initiatives, Thaçi is quoted to have said, “The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will be responsible in the process of dialogue by always respecting the Constitution and its applicable laws and the document of President Ahtisaari.”

Thaçi addressed however accusations by the opposition parties that Kosovo will resemble Palestine in the agreement to be represented without the term ‘republic’. He said such comparisons are groundless and come from ‘ignorant people’.

However, PM Hashim Thaçi gathered in a restaurant in Pristina leaders of main political parties to brief them on the meeting of the International Steering Group for Kosovo. LDK’s leader Isa Mustafa, AAK’s deputy leader Blerim Shala and AKR’s deputy leader Mimoza Kusari-Lila attended the meeting.
The leader of Vetëvendosje Albin Kurti and Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga did not take part in the meeting. Vetëvendosje officials said no one invited them to the meeting while PDK officials said President Jahjaga was not part of recent meetings regarding end of independence’s supervision.
Thaçi said after the meeting that he encountered support amongst the political spectre to move ahead in the process of independence’s finalization. “Seven main political parties hail and welcome the decision of the International Steering Group to end supervision of independence during 2012,” said Thaçi.
