In the worst incident in recent months, 12 civilians were killed and 18 injured when an artillery shell hit a bus in the eastern Donetsk region on 13 January, local authorities said. The bus was standing at a Ukrainian army checkpoint near the town of Volnovakha when it was hit by a shell fired from pro-Russian separatists, the Kiev-loyal regional government said in a statement.
